According to the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure, this is not only due to the ideal geographical location, but also to the German logistics companies and their quality and expert knowledge.

For our list of the largest logistics service providers in Germany, we have taken a close look at the companies with the highest turnover. The sorting is based on the order, starting with the highest turnover.
The data comes from a survey published in 2020 by Statista.com on the turnover generated in 2019 by Germany's largest logistics companies. We have shortened this list to the TOP 10.
Deutsche Post – DHL
Deutsche Post DHL Group is not only the strongest logistics company in Germany, but also a global player with locations in over 220 countries. Its business areas range from parcel services to worldwide freight shipping and supply chain. In the process, domestic revenue of 10.4 billion euros was generated, making DHL Germany's largest logistics service provider.
Deutsche Bahn AG (DB Schenker / DB Cargo)
DB Schenker and DB Cargo are responsible for the logistics division of the DB Group and together form one of the largest logistics service providers in Germany. DB Schenker takes care of all transport and logistics services by sea, air and land, with rail freight transport in the hands of DB Cargo. Deutsche Bahn managed a turnover of 7.5 billion euros in 2019.
Dachser
The German logistics company Dachser, based in the Allgäu region of Germany, was founded back in 1930 and has been a constant player in the industry ever since. The family-owned company's 71 locations deal with sea and air freight, land and rail transport, as well as contract logistics and food logistics. The German logistics provider also offers industry solutions for chemical and DIY transports. Consequently, Dachser was able to generate revenue of 3.6 billion euros in 2019.
Kühne + Nagel
In fourth place among Germany's largest logistics companies is Kuehne + Nagel, founded in 1890 and headquartered in Switzerland since 1976. The company handled the distribution of the Moderna vaccine in Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Africa and parts of North America during the Corona pandemic. In 2019, they recorded a turnover of 3.2 billion euros.
Rhenus
Like most of the companies on this list, one of the largest German logistics companies, the Rhenus Group, was founded back at the beginning of the 20th century. In addition to the classic transport routes, this freight forwarder also primarily takes care of supply chain solutions and warehousing. In all these areas, they achieved a turnover of 2.5 billion euros in 2019.
UPS (United Parcel Service)
The logistics service provider UPS, founded in 1907, is one of the largest courier express parcel service companies in Germany, alongside DHL and Hermes. In addition to parcel shipping, UPS also offers other logistics services in the automotive, healthcare and aviation sectors. In Germany, the company achieved a turnover of 2.1 billion euros.
Hermes
The relatively young company Hermes has grown into one of the largest logistics service providers in Germany. Although the main focus is on B2C and C2C distribution, Hermes Germany GmbH also offers global e-commerce and transport logistics. In 2019, the logistics company generated a turnover of 2 billion euros.
DPD
The German logistics company DPD Group, which is also relatively young, was founded from several German freight forwarders and quickly moulted into one of the largest logistics service providers in Germany. In 2019, the parcel service achieved an annual turnover of 1.9 billion euros in Germany.
Panalpina
The logistics company Panalpina was founded in 1935 but traces its roots back to a Rhine shipping company that was established as early as 1895. The German subsidiary of the Swiss company was located near Frankfurt Airport and generated 1.5 billion in 2019. In the same year, Panalpina merged with the Danish company DSV.
DSV
The Danish logistics company DSV was also founded by several owner-operated freight forwarders in 1976. Through several acquisitions, the service provider managed to maintain its position in the global market, making it one of the largest logistics service providers in Germany. In 2019, the company merged most recently with Panalpina. In the same year, they recorded a turnover of 1.5 billion euros.
