What are T2L/ T2LF documents?

T2L and T2LF are transit procedures and are important for exporting to your country of destination. These shipping documents are also certificates for the status of the goods. With these certificates, you can prove that your freight is from the EU. Thereby, you do not have to pay duty nor tax on these goods during the border crossings. Tax and duty are therefore not to be paid until the arrival at the destination country.

T2L/ T2LF – Certificates proving the EU status of goods

Beside the forms T2L and T2LF, further documents can be used to prove the EU status of your goods. Commercial papers can be presented to customs as proof. These documents will be marked with either “T2L”, or T2LF”. Another document that can be used is the shipping manifest, which will be marked with a “C” (equivalent to T2L), or “F” (equivalent to T2LF).

When are T2L/ T2LF used?

The T2L document is used, when goods are not leaving the tax territory of the EU. This is the case for example for countries like Malta, Cyprus, or San Marino. Therefore, it is used only, if goods are i.e. being transported over international waters from one country of the EU to another.

The T2LF document is being used similar to the T2L. Still, it is applied, if the country, you are exporting from, and/or the destination country, as well as parts of the transport route are in the customs territory of the EU, but not in its tax territory.
